The Mac OS on a PC

For the past month and a half, I've been doing some research into putting the MacOS on a PC device. Specifically, I saw this on a Dell Mini 9 and was told that it can never be upgraded or it will stop working.

I bought myself a Dell Mini10v and installed Snow Leopard on it. If you want to know the reality of this, I am currently writing this blog entry from this device. I effectively have a Mac Netbook. (I think that's pretty cool.)

I'd like to thank the guys and gals who have been working on the Hackintosh project and have worked to get all the drivers working. The project is working and the steps to complete it are flawless.

This thing seems really cool at first thought. My purpose to make one of these is curiosity, and now that it works, I plan on using it as a travel laptop. If I get into graduate school for my doctorate, notes will be taken via the device.

I'm not sure which office applications I want for it. Should I use Google docs? If I do, I will need connectivity. Should I use Open Office? That's what I'm leaning towards, but need to see the current state of the project. Should I use Microsoft Word? It is software that is used at work and will work.

While not as powerful as any of my other machines, this 10v appears to work really well. I just bought the cheapest box. 1 Gig RAM, 160Gig hard drive, nothing special.
